Fun Match Friday!

Liberty NSDTRC is hosting a Fun Match for ALL Sporting Dogs at MSDA’s Spring Event on Friday, March 1st beginning no earlier than 6pm (after Breed judging for Groups is complete). Eligibility – Sporting and Jr. Showmanship. Puppy Classes – 3-6mo, 6-9mo, and 9-12mo. Adult Class – Open.  Dogs with Majors may participate as Exhibition only.

Earn an AKC Novice Fetch Title!

Liberty NSDTRC is pleased to offer an AKC Fetch Novice Test at MSDA’s Spring Event on March 2nd and 3rd.  You can earn your novice Fetch title by entering once under each of the two judges! You can enter under both judges on the same day or one judge on Saturday and one on Sunday. Dog Show, Obedience and Rally Premium Lists are available

The Premium Lists are now posted for all AKC events at MSDA’s Spring Event the first weekend of March. Here is a direct link to the MSDA Premium List. MBF is the superintendent, so all information is on the InfoDog website. Go to https://m.infodog.com/show/state_show_details.htm?state=md (their list of upcoming Maryland shows) and scroll down to find all events and information you need, including information for concurrent specialties on the grounds that weekend.

2024 MSDA Field Events – Dates

MSDA’s calendar of field events is filling up! Here’s what we are planning so far for 2024:

  • Bird Instinct Clinics Saturday and Sunday, March 2 & 3, as part of the annual Spring Event at Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, MD. Details will be available in January.
  • AKC Spaniel Hunt Tests on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 & 21, sponsored by the Clumber Spaniel Club of America, at Mt. Ararat Farms in Port Deposit, MD. Although Clumbers will have priority, other flushing breeds are also eligible to enter. MSDA will be providing assistance with this event. (We will not be holding our own weekend of hunt tests this spring.)
  • Field Day, our annual FUN training day for bird dogs of all experience levels, will be Saturday, May 18 at Rebel Ridge Farms in Elkton, MD. More information and on-line registration will be available in late February.
  • Fall Hunt Test Weekend will be Friday-Sunday, September 13-15 at Rebel Ridge Farms. MSDA is planning three days of AKC Spaniel Hunt Tests PLUS an in-person seminar, on Friday 9/13, for AKC hunt test judges, handlers and prospective handlers. We’re still very early in the planning process for this weekend; we may add other activities. More information will be available later in the year.
  • Training Days for Flushing Dogs has been a huge hit over the past couple of years! Specific dates, locations and formats for 2024 are To-Be-Announced.

Spring Event 2024 to include three days of dog shows

MSDA’s “Spring Event” will be expanding to include THREE days of Sporting Group Dog Shows, on Friday March 1, Saturday March 2 and Sunday March 3 in addition to all-breed obedience & rally trials on Friday-Sunday, bird instinct clinics on Saturday & Sunday, and more activities (to be announced). All events are currently pending AKC approval. Spring Event will be held at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, MD.
