That’s a wrap!

Another MSDA Spring Event is in the books. A big THANK-YOU to all dogs and their humans who participated in or watched the dog shows, obedience and rally trials, Bird Instinct Clinics, Fetch testing, fun match, CGC and CGCA tests, as well as the breed specialties and club dinners. And special thanks to all the judges, stewards and the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this long weekend another big success. Check the updates on the Spring Event page for availability of results and for links to photos from the weekend (coming soon!) If you haven’t already, please subscribe to our email list to receive our monthly newsletter with timely information on all our activities. And, mark your calendars for MSDA’s Spring Event 2025 scheduled for Feb 28 – Mar 2, 2025.

MSDA 2024 Dog Show Results

Some 2024 results are available at InfoDog, even without a subscription, though it will take you a few clicks. Go to https://m.infodog.com/results/default.htm, click on the date range (e.g., including 3/1/2024). Then, for the event of interest (e..g, Maryland Sporting Dog Association LB), in the Results column click on “Results” and from there click “Group & Best in Show Winners”. For Friday, you’ll see results for the Best in Sporting Group and for Best Owner-Handled including the Clumber as “B/G1” – first place in Group!

Judging Programs available

The judging programs – including ring assignments, schedules and judge assignments – are now available for the dog shows and obedience and rally trials at MSDA’s Spring Event the first weekend of March at Howard County Fairgrounds. Go to  https://m.infodog.com/show/state_show_details.htm?state=md (their list of upcoming Maryland shows) and scroll down to find all events and information you need, including information for specialties on the grounds that weekend.

If you’re just coming to the event to watch the shows and see all the dogs, consult the judging program for a schedule of which breeds to find where and when. See you there!

Not a great name, but an awesome weekend!

Did you know that “Spring Event” is short for “Spring Community Engagement Event”? And, in 2024, it’s bigger than ever: THREE days of sporting dog shows and obedience & rally trials. Also: a Fun Match on Friday, Instinct Clinics on Saturday and Sunday, AKC Fetch tests on Saturday and Sunday and, for MSDA Members and their guests, a delicious banquet Saturday evening!

This is a great opportunity, as sporting dog enthusiasts, to educate others about dogs in general and bird dogs in particular. If you have friends or business associates who might be interested in learning more about the sporting breeds, please share information about the Spring Event with them. Maybe they’re thinking about getting a dog but want to compare certain breeds, or perhaps they’re wondering what they got into when they brought home that puppy who turned into an adorable bundle of seemingly unlimited energy. Possibly you yourself are a “field person” who’s never ventured into a dog show and are curious what all the fuss is about. Every year, our members, exhibitors and knowledgeable spectators answer a lot of questions about dogs, sporting breeds and MSDA.

Spring Event has no admission charge, but parking is $5 (cash) per vehicle. No strollers, please, and dogs not entered in the event should not be brought into the buildings.

See you there!
