Looking Ahead to 2026!
We are excited to announce that Rally & Obedience will return in 2026! Specialty Clubs interested in joining our 2026 event can request our “Offer Sheet” for participation. We will have Chris Bevillard and Ruth Sheller, instructors at MyK9Buddy in Westminster, MD, offering Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Community Good Citizen (CGCA) and trick dog testing on Saturday and Sunday. There will be a Banquet Saturday evening at Spring Event, hosted by the Liberty Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club.

The Premium List is available but entries have closed for three days of dog shows at Spring Event February 28-March 2, 2025! MB-F is the superintendent, so please visit Infodog to download the Premium and watch for the Judging Program to find out ring times.

Early registration, at a discounted price, has closed for the Bird Instinct Clinics, to be held Friday, Saturday & Sunday February 28-March 2. Walk-up registration will be available on site on a space available basis.

Entries are open for AKC Fetch Testing – all levels! – to be held Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2.

Bill Burland took the reins as MSDA’s Spring Event Chair in September 2024. Learn much more about Bill and the transition in our September newsletter.

Breed specialties during the 2025 Spring Event weekend are being held by: Maryland Cocker Spaniel Club (Friday, concurrent specialties), National Capital English Setter Club (Friday & Saturday, designated specialties), and Liberty Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club (Saturday, designated specialty).

Supported entry clubs also have been announced. They are, for Friday, February 28:

  • Liberty Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club (Sweepstakes & Veteran Sweepstakes)
  • Susquehanna Valley English Springer Spaniel Club (Sweepstakes & Veteran Sweepstakes)

For Saturday, March 1:

  • Flat-Coated Retriever Society of America (Sweepstakes & Veteran Sweepstakes)
  • Potomac Valley Golden Retriever Club
  • Clumber Spaniel Club of the Carolinas (Sweepstakes & Veteran Sweepstakes)
  • Maryland Cocker Spaniel Club (Sweepstakes & Veteran Sweepstakes)
  • Susquehanna Valley English Springer Spaniel Club (Sweepstakes & Veteran Sweepstakes)
  • Irish Water Spaniel Club of America (Sweepstakes & Veteran Sweepstakes)
  • Sussex Spaniel Club of America (Sweepstakes & Veteran Sweepstakes)
  • Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of America, Inc.

And for Sunday, March 2, the supporting entry clubs are:

On Saturday we will be holding the Bred By Exhibitor and Gun Dog Groups. Also, the Liberty Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club and the National Capital English Setter Club will have designated specialties.

On Sunday, MSDA will be offering Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes as well as a group event.

We also have some wrap-around events like AKC Fetch testing as well as the Bird Instinct Clinic. Both were very popular last year. More information about these activities will be available by early January.

At the 2025 Spring Event, we will not be offering obedience and rally trials. We may do so again in 2026.
