MSDA is working with Mason Dixon Game Outfitters (MDGO) in Pylesville MD to offer one-day foundation seminars for pointing breeds.
The training sessions are led by AKC judges Kim and Jim Lewis, with assistance from Sally Eck. Sally is an MSDA board member and has led the Pointing Group at Field Day each year as well as the also very popular Pointing Mock Hunt Tests.
The seminar focuses on group and individual training. We specialize your training geared towards your needs, whether it be hunting or AKC field competitions.
The number of attendees is limited. The seminar is open to MSDA members and non-members as well. Couples and families are welcome to attend, though there should be only one handler per dog. The seminar fee is $80 per dog.
Recent seminars have been held on Sunday, November 9 and Sunday, December 28. Future dates are TBD. If you are interested in receiving specific information about training with MSDA’s Pointing Breeds Field Training, including timely email notification when dates are selected, sign up for our mailing list, which is managed by MailChimp (or edit your preferences if you’re already on the list). On the form, be sure to mark “Yes” for “Interested in Field Training for Pointing Breeds”.
Preregistration is required for these seminars. Payment by check, credit card, Venmo or PayPal is required and fees incurred for the use of these services must be paid by the customer. Mason Dixon Game Outfitters offers guided hunts during the season, dog boarding and training. They also offer Ronnie Smith Training Seminars, coming up in 2026 on May 30-June 2.
