2022 Spring Event

Exhibitors note: The Premium List is available, and ENTRIES ARE OPEN at InfoDog. All entries for conformation, obedience and rally events will be via InfoDog and will close on Wednesday, February 16th.

This event is open to the public, and there will be hundreds of dogs under one roof! A detailed schedule, by breed, is usually available about one week before the event. There is no admission charge, but parking is $5 per vehicle. No strollers, please. Dogs not entered in the event may not be brought into the buildings. Also, as of 1/22, Howard County, MD has an indoor mask mandate.

Overall Schedule: MSDA holds two of the largest sporting group conformation shows in the U.S. and, along with those, three days of all-breed obedience and rally trials, breed specialties, bird instinct clinics, and other activities. In 2022, the dates and confirmed activities for MSDA’s events at the Howard County Fairgrounds (just south of I-70) in West Friendship, MD will be:

Also on the schedule are sweepstakes, owner-handled, junior handler, and best bred-by-exhibitor competitions.

The Main Hall and Annex buildings will be opened at 6 am each day (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and then locked each day (Friday and Saturday) at 8 pm. Official event hours are 7 am to 7 pm each day, though events may start later and finish earlier than these times.

Location and Grounds: The Fairgrounds’ address is 2210 Fairgrounds Road, West Friendship, Maryland 21794. It’s adjacent to I-70 and near that highway’s Exit 80.

There is a $5.00 (cash) daily parking fee. Prime Parking and RV Parking are available at an additional charge but must have been reserved in advance; see page 25 of the Premium List, available via InfoDog, for more information.

The PVGRC Specialty (for Golden Retrievers only) and Sporting Dog Breeds Conformation judging (i.e., the dog show) is expected to be held in the Main Hall. All-Breed Obedience and Rally Trials are planned for the new Annex, which is connected to the Main Hall. Bird Instinct Clinics are held entirely outdoors in a grassy field. One caveat: if a large number of conformation entries are received, one conformation ring may be located in the Annex.
