Volunteers! On January 3rd the Maryland Sporting Dog Association lost our Vice-President and Show Chair with the passing of Laurie Doumaux.  As Chair of the MSDA Sporting Group Dog Show, Laurie relied on a large group of volunteers, affectionately called “Laurie’s People”.  All of Laurie’s People and anyone else that could help with this year’s show are asked to please contact the new Show Chair, Richard Jackson.

The Maryland Sporting Dog Association’s Sporting Group Dog Show includes three days of All-Breed Obedience and Rally Trials.  The Obedience and Rally Trials need a minimum of ten (10) stewards each day, starting a half hour before the trials start.  Although experienced stewards are needed, newcomers, with no experience stewarding, are also welcomed and needed.  If you think you will be able to help, please contact the Obedience and Rally Chair, Pat Hess, as soon as possible so she can plan a schedule.

Contact information for both Richard and Pat also are included in the Premium List.

Member Meeting: The annual MSDA membership meeting will be held in the hospitality area of the main hall on Saturday after the conclusion of the Best-in-Show judging. Light dinner and other refreshments will be provided.

Instinct Clinics: Also at the spring show, MSDA will offer four “Instinct Clinics” to introduce sporting dogs to birds and AKC hunting events. In the clinic we will look at prey drive, biddability in association with retrieving, and the instinct to hunt and find birds.  Instinct clinics will be held outside, in a field near the main show building. There will be no gunfire, but live birds (pigeons or quail) will be used. Click here for much more information, and to register online today.
